NEW YORK – Women, listen up (and men too actually). If you’re taking birth control made by Pfizer, don’t be shocked when you suddenly discover you’re pregnant after all.
The company announced on Tuesday it is recalling one million of its birth control packets in the United States because “they may not contain enough contraceptive to prevent pregnancy”. OOPS!
Therefore the pharmaceutical company released this statement:
“As a result of this packaging error, the daily regimen for these oral contraceptives may be incorrect and could leave women without adequate contraception, and at risk for unintended pregnancy.”

But Pfizer’s goof up doesn’t end there.
The company discovered that while some of their birth control packets didn’t have enough contraceptive, other packets contain too much of the stuff.
Could that ‘extra’ result in possibly long term consequences, such as delayed pregnancies despite not being on the pill?
According to the company it doesn’t. Pfizer added that their miss-dosed pills do not form a health threat to women but urges consumers affected by the recall to “begin using a non-hormonal form of contraception immediately.”
The drugmaker said the issue involved 14 lots of Lo/Ovral-28 tablets and 14 lots of Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets.
A spokesperson for the company said the ‘problem’ has already been corrected.
