NEW YORK – Two Brits have been denied entering the United States after they posted tweets that are deemed ‘threatening’ by the U.S. government.
The British tourists tweeted that they were going to “destroy” the U.S. and “dig up Marilyn Monroe”.
Unfortunately for the two “jokers”, the United States Customs is unfamiliar with the term “destroy”, which in British slang means “to party” or “having a blast”, and when 26 year old Leigh van Bryan arrived at Los Angeles Airport he was immediately arrested.
Leigh and his lady friend Emily Bunting tried desperately to explain to the U.S. Customs that the meaning of the word “destroy” in British street language is “party”, but to no avail.
The couple were thrown in handcuffs, placed in a guarded cell for 12 hours and promptly sent back to the U.K..
Leigh was also questioned over a tweet that he posted 3 weeks prior to this incident which read: ’3 weeks today, we’re totally in LA p****** people off on Hollywood Blvd and diggin’ Marilyn Monroe up!’
U.S. Customs stated they saw the young man as a “potential threat”. Federal agents checked van Bryan’s luggage for shovels and accused Bunting of ‘being on the look out while Leigh dug up Marilyn’s grave’.
Leigh stated afterwards that it’s clear that U.S. Federal agents never watch Family Guy because he copied his Marilyn Monroe tweet from that cartoon series.
