SYDNEY – The shoe that Australian Premier Julia Gillard lost on Thursday during a rough scuffle that erupted in Canberra, when Aborigines got upset over politician Tony Abbott’s remarks to remove their embassy tent, was offered up for sale on eBay.
The proceeds of the sale of the ‘blue suede shoe’ would be used to assist the ‘Aborigines Embassy Tent’ which has been standing next to the Parliament building for 40 years.

“You are bidding on a used shoe. Remember, you’re bidding on only one shoe, not a pair. So, you can’t walk with it, unless you are the Premier!”But when the bid reached already $2550 AUD ($2700 USD), eBay decided to remove the bidding from its auction site.
Someone in the Aborigine community claims to have the ‘real’ right shoe belonging to the Premier. The unidentified person said he got a hold of it after the Premier lost it during the pushing and shoving that broke out when she wanted to leave the restaurant and was rushed to a get-away car.
eBay states it removed the bidding because it believes the auction is a hoax.
