REDMOND – Arfa Karim Randhawa, who was employed by Microsoft since she was just nine years old, has passed away.
The 16 year old Pakistani teen suffered a fatal heart attack on Saturday.
Randhawa was an exceptional young lady with an enormous amount of talent. So much talent did the teen have that Seattle based software giant Microsoft employed her at the tender age of just nine years old.
The teen, who was described as a ‘computer genius’, died Saturday at the hospital of Lahore in Eastern Pakistan where she lay in a coma for the past several weeks.
In 2004 Microsoft bestowed the prestigious title of “Microsoft Certified Professional” upon Arfa, instantly making her the youngest software programmer to work with the company world wide.

In 2005 Bill Gates, then CEO and founder of Microsoft, personally extended an invitation to the Pakistani teen to visit the Microsoft campus in Seattle, Washington.
The past several weeks Mr. Gates also wanted to personally see to it that Arfa Karim Randhawa would be brought to the United States to receive prime medical care. However, doctors in Pakistan advised against it saying the teen wouldn’t live much longer.
Sadly, they were right in their diagnosis. Arfa Karim Randhawa passed away on Saturday. She was just 16 years young.
