BEVERLY HILLS – No doubt you’ve seen them, those bright yellow or red colored metal shoe and clothes drop boxes stationed throughout Los Angeles County. You may even have dropped second hand clothes in them once or twice.
And while most people use the charity boxes for what they are intended, you may be shocked to learn that not everyone has the same perspective.
A recent report released by the company that is hired by Los Angeles County to clean out the content of those metal containers reveals a rather distasteful, even disgusting collection of items found inside the containers that have nothing to do with shoes or clothes.
The report indicates that some people use the containers a ‘garbage bins’, literally.
Items find in charity boxes:
Just about anything and everything you can think of has at one time or another been removed from those containers, ranging from sex games to dead animals, yes dead animals; in particular dead house pets.
Some other items that removing crews found inside the charity bins were used diapers, sharp knives, broken furniture, used baby mattresses and even dinner leftovers.

50 to 60 percent of what is found inside the yellow and red charity containers is just garbage and cost the clearing company one million dollar a year in cleanup fees.
Each month roughly one million pounds of items that can not be used for donations are collected from the charity bins in Los Angeles County.
A true loss for those who could really use the still wearable items that we no longer want.
