LONDON – The 2012 Olympic Games held in the United Kingdom are quickly approaching. Millions of visitors are said to travel to the UK to watch the competition unfold.
And as long as they stay out of the waters surrounding the Olympic site, tourists should have a pleasant experience.
Rumors have it that a ‘creature of the dark deep’ is occupying the water ways and one witness has come forth saying he saw the ‘monster’ snatch a large Canadian goose with ease.
Sun magazine reported on the case saying it may be an alligator or a large snake but those who know the river Lea well think it is most likely a swamp turtle or a pike haunting the river.
One thing is certain. Something is going down in the waters of East London. The geese and duck population shrinks with each new day.
Mike Wells who’s been actively studying the river says he saw it happen once before in 2005.
“Back then, geese were literally sucked into the water. Nobody could tell what creature was causing the uproar, except that it had to be very big. I’ve spoken with people who think we’re dealing with a giant turtle but I think Canadian geese are too big for them.”
Michael Allen, a zoologists, says he puts his money on a Python and says that a Canadian goose is nothing more than a ‘snack’ for such a snake.
Regardless of what’s haunting the river Lea, tourists are advised not to foot bathe in the river during their visit to the Olympic site in East London next year or they just may go home missing a few toes.
