BEVERLY HILLS – Dancing With The Stars Season 13 has ended and with it a showcase of what has become a series of bad TV.

More and more the show, that once lived up to its name of having real stars competing in dances, has become a stage for personal promotions of individuals (and in season 13 an entire family).

J.R. Martinez, a former soldier who has a large portion of his body and face covered with burn marks from a bomb explosion in Iraq, won this season’s trophy. He absolutely deserves it, not out of pity but because the man can dance.

Martinez showed heart, style, grace, emotions and just about every skill and talent a dancer needs to sway an audience. And he did that, from beginning to end.

The second place went to Rob Kardashian, Kim Kardashian’s youngest and only brother in case you didn’t know that yet.

Say what? Unreal. That punk who started off the season defying his dance instructor Cheryl Burke with his arrogance attitude telling her he wasn’t going to count steps got second place?

Come on. Ricki Lake, who took third in Season 13, may not be the greatest dancer on the planet but she certainly didn’t deserve to be eliminated in the first round of the final show.

More and more these reality shows are looking for angles to shock audiences with twist and turns that are just plain ridiculous but are required to keep people watching and advertisers paying; after all the bottom line is money, no shocker here.

Unless DWTS goes back to its original format when “real” stars “really” competed on the dance floor, the show producers should do us all a favor and just hang it up.

Promoting an entire family clan on national TV is in my book certainly not ‘good television’ whether the show is ‘real’ or made up with the outcome already planned in advance.

Granted, the stars in Season 1 may have been fading celebs who aren’t exactly today’s front and center news.

Still they were certainly a whole lot better than having a Kardashian member parade on the dance floor incapable of telling his right foot from his left … and we haven’t even begun talking about his ‘I am so full of myself and I am a USC graduate’ attitude.

Seriously; is that the level TV producers need to stoop down to in order to get ratings?
