Bride Found Dead Still Wearing Wedding Gown

Estrella Carrera, 26, was found about 3:30pm on Sunday, police said, and believe she was killed as a result of a domestic-related incident.

An autopsy determined that she died of multiple stab wounds and her death has been classified as a homicide.

Carrera’s body was discovered when her sister called police to conduct a well-being check at the home, after she became alarmed when she could not contact Estrella after she failed to pick up her two children who were in the care of relatives.

Carrera was last seen about 2am on Saturday, hours after her wedding the evening before, and was scheduled to pick up her children from family on Saturday afternoon.

On Friday, Carrera was quickly married to the father of her youngest child, said her cousin Sandy Lopez.

Carrera and her husband had been together in an on and off relationship for about three years, according to Lopez. She had a nine-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son, Lopez said.

“She didn’t want to tell me she had gotten married,” Lopez said.

She added that she personally did not approve of the marriage or the relationship but she said she was not speaking for the rest of her family.

“We never thought this would happen, she was a strong woman … she loved her kids,” said Lopez. “Reality still hasn’t hit me.”
