BEVERLY HILLS – A devoted reader brought to our attention that some information we published in a recent article contains erroneous details.
The article in question: Base Jumper Survives Death Fall
According to one reader, whose identity we chose not to reveal, the parachute did open, just not in time.
The reader expresses that he was an eyewitness to the incident and as such has first hand report of what exactly happened:
“Please don’t publish information that you know nothing about. I saw this with my own eyes – “parachute failed to open” – what are you basing that off of? You obviously are totally ignorant of how anything regarding a parachute works. He didn’t start the deployment process until about 1 second till impact – the parachute was going to open just fine if he had given it enough time.”
We make every attempt to verify the accuracy of the stories before publishing them on our site. Sometimes however, certain details do get misconstrued either at the source or at the editing department.
As much as we try not to be, humans are fallible by design and by no means was the error intentionally, intended to mislead anyone or an attempt to misconstrue facts.
Although in our defense we would like to point out that our article states “the parachute failed to open at the right height”, which is not the same as saying “the parachute failed to open”.
Still, we apologize to our readers for the misunderstanding and wish to express our gratitude to the eyewitness who took the time to assist us with publishing the correct information.
