TOKYO – Earlier today Sony announced its popular Playstation Network was hacked once again and 93,000 accounts were jeopardized.
Now Japan’s largest electronics company reveals it is also recalling a massive 1.6 million TVs worldwide.
A spokesperson for the company stated that problems were detected with their popular Bravia LCD TVs when consumers filed complaints about smoke rising from the units.
A early investigation indicates that parts inside the LCD TVs are melting.
The Bravia models in question were built in 2007 and 2008 and were predominantly sold in Europe, the United States and Japan, although some Bravia LCD models may be found in other countries as well.
No one has been injured thus far because of electrical malfunctioning with the TVs.
Sony says that anyone who is worried about their Bravia LCD TV catching fire should take it back to the place of purchase where a revision will be carried out free of charge.
