BEVERLY HILLS – President Barack Obama is scheduled for a visit to Los Angeles on Monday. He is set to arrive around 4:30 PM.

The President is coming to town to collect money for his presidential campaign. Allegedly a dinner party will be held at the Fig and Olive restaurant located on the ever busy Melrose Ave. in West-Hollywood, for which attendees must pay $35,000 per guest.

Of course, the President isn’t coming by himself. He’s bringing with him a whole army of individuals that are there to assure his safety and attend to his every need.

Road in Los Angeles are blocked off and barricaded in anticipation of the President's arrival on Monday

And that’s a problem. At least where traffic is concerned it is.

As is to be expected when a high-ranking dignitary comes to town, streets are barricaded, excessive security is in place and police swarm neighborhoods like bees on honey.

It’s already bad enough that this has to happen. It’s inconceivable that Angelinos have to put up with this during rush hours.

Mr. President; don’t you know that Los Angeles has one of the most congested road system in the nation? Don’t you know Sir that blocking off just one street throws entire Los Angeles traffic in one major congested and often gridlocked parking lot?

So, while we don’t mind you paying a visit to our beautiful city, we plea with you to please schedule your events around what is for many drivers in Los Angeles already a very stressful few hours; there is really no need to make it worse.

Mr. President; you could for instance arrive in Los Angeles hours before our traffic rush starts. You could also take the skyway instead of the highway. Most buildings in Los Angeles visited by individuals of your stature, have helipads on their rooftops.

Additionally, Mr. President you could chose a day other than Monday or Friday to pay our town a visit. Those are just bad days for anyone in Los Angeles, whether on the road or not.

And finally, we understand your safety is of utmost concern but do you really need a small army of individuals to do that and do you really need a convoy of vehicles to take you where you want to go?

Please remember Mr. President, last time we checked, the United States’ economy is sluggish at best, home foreclosures continue to rise and unemployment nationwide continues to hover around 10 percent.

That doesn’t include the millions of Americans who now depend on government assistance for their survival, according to the government.

Raising money for your cause is a noble thing. But why do hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Los Angeles citizens have to be majorly inconvenienced by your personal affairs?

All we want on Monday afternoon is to get home the easiest and fastest way possible. The last thing we need on Monday afternoon is being delayed from getting home because you Mr. President didn’t take the time to schedule your activities around our daily lives.

So, while we certainly don’t mind you being in Los Angeles, and we wish you the very best with your running as 2nd term President, we ask you as good, loyal, hard working Angelinos that on your next visit to our amazing city you refrain from using rush hours as the time to make your entrance.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Cordially;

Concerned Los Angelinos.
