LOS ANGELES – Personal privacy is a serious matter and should be protected at all costs.

No one should be allowed access to anyone’s private information without that person’s consent.

Two entities however stand out that do not abide by these rules and consider the right to invade a personal privacy their personal right.

The first organization is the government that states it has the right to “spy” on individuals without their knowledge or consent as a matter of national security.

Right or wrong, that’s a debate for another time.

The second group that invades people’s privacy are hackers who consider exposing private information from individuals and entities to the general public, as entertaining fun that is often associated with personal bragging.

Hackers invade and steal private information from unsuspected individuals daily world wide

Hackers “break into” computers and electronic gadgets belonging to private individuals, corporations and government agencies.

The more publicity a hacker gains with the break in, the more likely that individual will try to expose information that should be kept private.

With the explosion of smartphones, hackers have found new territory to conquer. The recent increase of explicit private photos appearing on the internet, posted by hackers, is ample proof they are enjoying their new bounty and have no intentions of stopping their hacking actions any time soon.

For the most part, hackers target famous people. After all, an ordinary person doesn’t bring the level of attention they crave. Don’t let this fool you in thinking that “common” folks don’t get their private info hacked. Are you still that naive?

It explains why a barrage of nude or semi-nude photos belonging to such stars as Vanessa Hudgens, Miley Cyrus, Mila Kunis and most recently Scarlett Johanson, have been appearing online; the hackers get a kick out of posting that content.

In Scarlett Johanson’s case, the FBI has taken on the privacy violation matter and is searching for those responsible for hacking and posting the partially nude photos of the actress on the internet.

Since the incident, the actress, who is seen in one photo with a partially naked chest, while a second photo shows Johanson’s naked rear view, has admitted she took the photos with her smartphone.

Smartphones have become convenience gadgets we can’t live without anymore. High pixel cameras and other fancy features have made us addicted to the electronic devices.

Taking personal photos with cell phone cameras has become a normal part of most individuals’ lives.

But with this seemingly innocent act comes responsibility, especially if you value your privacy.

Hackers will be hackers. That’s how it’s been since the beginning of the computer invention, that’s how it is now and as technology advances, that is certainly how it is going to be.

Unless you as an individual take a pro-active stand against protecting your own privacy, the world won’t have enough FBI agents at hand to pursue the many privacy violations.

What hackers do isn’t right but … that’s what hackers do; they break into things, most often without your permission.

So … if you really can’t resist taking photos of yourself naked with your cell phone, at least have the smarts to remove those images from your device. If not, spend a few bucks on privacy protection software that will see to it your phone won’t get hacked.

Again, hacking is wrong, we certainly don’t condone it.

But spending precious tax dollars on investigation teams to find the “invader(s)”, when a bit of foresight combined with good old common sense would have prevented the photos from being hacked in the first place, is just ludicrous.
