LONDON – Bradford scientists say that Crocus extract can help humanity to win the fight against cancer.
According to the UK scientists, the medicine based on the extract of the tiny flower is so potent, one treatment is all it takes to kill cancer tumors.
The tiny crocus flower contains a powerful anti-cancer agent that attacks many types of cancers without destroying healthy cells
The new wonder drug is only in its first stage of development and has only been tested on mice but shows tremendous promise in fighting cancer in people, according to the scientists.
Professor Laurence Patterson who heads the research says:
“We’ve developed a ‘small bomb’ that attacks all tumors without destroying healthy cells. In preliminary tests, half the tumors completely disappeared after only one treatment. That’s very hope-giving.”
Tests in humans are anticipated to begin in about 18 months. If the tests go according expectations, it will still take 6 to 7 years before the anti-cancer wonder drug will be available to the general population.
