LONDON – A senior lady in England had a tattoo engraved on her upper chest to make sure paramedics and medical experts know exactly what she wants during a time of emergency.

Joy Hopkins shows her 'do not resuscitate' tattoo

81 year old Joy Hopkins is very clear about her final wish and wants to make sure others understand and adhere to her final request when the time comes.

What better way to get her point across than by having her final message engraved on her upper chest?

What’s the message?

“Do Not Resuscitate” is what Joy had inked on her bust.

Joy says she’s happy she wakes up alive every day but just in case one day she doesn’t she wants to die in peace and not be bothered with by paramedics or doctors.

“I have had eighty good years and when my time comes, I don’t want anyone from trying to stop me to go in peace,” said the grandma from Norfolk, England.

The spunky senior said she made the decision to not be resuscitated 30 years ago, when her husband, who suffered from Crohn’s Disease, died in 1981 after fighting for his life for seven long, hard years.

Joy is certain that when her time comes she wants to be left alone to die.

Joy's extra PTO (please turn over) tattoo, she added for extra measure, should her chest not be visible

“My mother-in-law died at 106 years old.  I am certain she would have been better of without having to struggle through the last six years of her life,” tells the spunky senior.

“With my tattoos I want to prevent having to go through the same ordeal,” according to Hopkins.

Yes, the grandma of six has two tattoos.  Just in case she is laying on her chest when she’s found, she had an additional small tattoo inked on the upper-right side of her back.

“P.T.O.” with a small arrow below it pointing to the right is engraved on her upper right shoulder.

What does it mean?

“Please Turn Over”.  Talk about foresightedness.

Joy Hopkins, who is diabetic, says her two children and six grandchildren all support her in her decision not to revive her when the time has come.
