THIS JUST IN: Monday July 26 2010: With sadness we report that Leah Siegel, an ESPN producer and Dallas mother of three whose two-year struggle with breast cancer inspired thousands of area residents, died early Monday, her family said. She was only 43.
She was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer after the birth of her third child in 2008. Her husband, Eric Loehr told readers of her blog.
“Leah had been resting peacefully in hospice care in recent days. Many of you have stressed your ongoing support, even after Leah’s passing, for me and the family. This is humbly appreciated. The kids were told about Leah’s passing, and they took it pretty well. As they grow and understand more, they will learn about the amount of love you have all shined on Leah, and they will know how special she was.“
“Thank you to everyone,” Loehr wrote Monday. “The support over the last couple of years has been amazing. As Leah has enriched many people’s lives, I believe that her life was equally enriched.”
Leah died about 4:30 a.m. Loehr said that two services are currently being planned for his wife, but that dates and times are not yet available. He indicated that the first service would be “traditional,” and the second would be a celebration of Siegel’s “legacy.”
On behalf of the entire Nodeju.com staff we take a moment of silence and pray for Leah’s family that they may find comfort in each other and in the Lord during this time of sorrow. We also pray for Leah that she may rest in peace and may she sit at God’s right hand as an angel watching over all of us. “Thank you for all the years of excellent shows you brought to us!“
