Images could be seen on Syrian TV on Monday, revealing what press agency Sana says are mass graves.
The aftermath of violent confrontations in the province of Idleb between rebels and security officers led to the discovery of what is believed to be a mass grave.
Bodies with their heads chopped off and riddled with bullets were unearthed in Jisr al-Sjoeghoer, a northeast area of Syria.
The horrendous fighting is the result of protests against president Basjar al-Assad, which, according to activists has claimed the lives of 1,300 people during the month of March alone.
The mass grave discovered on Monday is believed to be filled with bodies of those succumb during that violent episode when those pro al-Assad viciously attacked and killed anyone who dared to public protest against the dictator.
But Syrian government insists, the killings are the doings of terrorist groups and maintains that several times its own military and security officers have been attacked by the extremely violent terrorists.
The government also holds the terrorists responsible for the brutal killings of 120 security officers last week in Jisr al-Sjoeghoer and believes the mass grave discovered on Monday most likely contains the bodies of its officers.
The opposition maintain however that such is not the case and the bodies found in the mass grave belong to soldiers who were executed by other soldiers when trying to dessert.
